Final Goddess

Every living organism has a soul, and a purpose in the circle of life.

   from the smallest forest,

   to the deepest jungle

   she exists,

   newly created

   by the ancient ones,

   she grows from

   the ferns and earth

a final chance for us humans,

   to replenish and care

   she thrives from

        hope, for change

        balance, for giving

        and receiving

        from seed to sapling,

        she, you, and i

        won’t survive without

        a greener Earth.

Combining my love for vintage images and objects with my love of photography and storytelling, I created these digital collages as a learning process and exploration into the intriguing art of collage. I was drawn to the idea of taking unconnected objects and combining them to create something new and completely different. Many of my elements are of Art Deco and Classical sculptures, making them come alive in a world of my own making. Others are vintage photographs, stitched together with unexpected elements. I love turning architecture into fabric, a bustle into an arm, or tapestry into a tattoo.

As each evolved, a story evolved with them, sometimes obvious, sometimes up to the viewer’s own invention, sometimes just an illusion to something not quite explained. With a touch of fantasy, and certainly a romantic viewpoint, they definitely speak to my own vision as an artist, a designer and as a person.

I am an illustrator, an artisan, a photographer, and a writer. I am a graduate of Albany State University and The Fashion Institute of Technology. A Hudson Valley native, and a resident of NYC for 30+ years, I began my professional career as a published fashion illustrator, doing work for such notable names as Elizabeth Arden, Bloomingdales, Henri Bendel, Bullocks, Glamour Magazine, The Museum of Modern Art. It was when I relocated to Columbia County in 2006 that I began exploring other ways to expand my creativity, most recently through collage. I have exhibited my work at numerous shows including exhibits at Columbia County Council of the Arts, Greene County Council of the Arts, The Hudson Opera House, and an Arts Thirteen Exhibit at the Rhinebeck Public Library, and have had a Christmas Card design and illustration in the Card collection of MoMA.
