ARTIST BIOGRAPHY & STATEMENT
I am primarily a figure sculptor and work in clay, both oil-based plastilina (from which a mold is made and then cast and patinated) and water-based clay which is fired. But I also paint watercolors of landscapes and figures.
I am drawn to pastel for the intensity of color, and I love working directly with my hands. Although I study sculpture at the Art Students League in NYC and watercolor at the Woodstock School of Art, I am basically self-taught with pastel. I enjoy learning as I experiment with the medium in a playful way.
I love sky-scapes for the glowing colors, and use as references photos I take myself or those which are posted on the Hudson Valley in Pictures. It’s our beautiful surroundings which bring me inspiration and joy.
