Encaustic beeswax, graphite and pigment oils

9.5" x 9.5" on panel in floating wood frame

Encaustic is an ancient form of art using molten beeswax, pigment oils and damar resin crystals.  Along with painting, fusing, sculpting and layering I incorporate collage materials, photographs and found objects that are sometimes revealed and sometimes not. My art is a revelation of many years of being an artist and my work has always been a response to those experiences that fill me with awe. I find the encaustic process to be a meditative one and my approach in working with this lush medium is often two-dimensional with the final effect being luminous, deep and dramatic

I am a member of Tivoli Arts Gallery, Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, Spencertown Academy of the Arts, Greene County Council on the Arts, International Encaustic Institute, Saratoga Arts Council, Athens Cultural Center and the prestigious National Association of Women Artists, Inc.  My works have been shown throughout the Capital District and Hudson Valley Regions, NYC and Lee Mass.  My twenty-piece encaustic works on “The Lost Holocaust” funded by the New York State Council on the Arts has been shown throughout New York State and cited in North Light Books Incite 3: The Art of Story Telling. I have been cited in local newspapers such as Metroland, Poughkeepsie Journal, Times Union and The Hill Country Observer.  I am a Mark IV Artist of the New York Council on the Arts and have instructed in encaustic art and assisted in Encaustic Art at the International Center for Photography in New York City.

I am a native of Columbia County and live in the town of Greenport, Hudson, NY with my husband, two cats, dog and ten thousand bees.
