What I know is that for me, making art is like being a therapist, and is like living life. Everything has a way of falling apart and then gathering together, making form out of the unformulated, continually layering and digging beneath the layers. The complexities of abstraction, color, line, and texture are the tools I employ in my passionate reach for exploration of the not yet imagined.
Jennifer Leighton’s creative life as a psychotherapist is closely related to her artistic endeavors. When one deeply engages with another person it is a new experience every time. Much like a new canvas. Originally a self-taught artist, she began drawing in 1979. She continues to create work and exhibits nationally. She is an exhibiting member of the prestigious National Association of Women Artists.
