Preview of the Exhibition "Art & Words" at the Saugerties Public Library This Saturday

“Art & Words: Ekphrasis” consists of an exhibition of art and poetry— side-by-side — that includes artists and poets inspiring one another. Existing poetry was collected by invited poets and artwork was curated from artists throughout the Hudson Valley and New York Metropolitan area. Artists and poets were given the opportunity to choose selected poems or pieces of art that spoke to them and to create a new piece of art—be it a visual art piece or poem—based on the original inspiration. The challenge will be in determining which came first, the poem or the artwork. The full exhibition will be on view at Emerge Gallery from May 5-29, 2017 with an opening reception on Saturday, May 6 from 6-8 PM and a poetry reading on Saturday, May 20 from 6-8 PM at Emerge Gallery. Exhibition catalogs are available by clicking here.

Join Emerge Gallery this Saturday, April 22 from 2-3 at the Saugerties Public Library for a select preview of the exhibition. The preview will include a selection of participating artists and poets who will be presenting their artwork and poetry created for the exhibition. Participants include Tara Bach, Steve Gentile, Robert Langdon, Prudence See, Allen Shadow, Raymond J. Steiner, and Theresa Landi Daniel who will be reading work by additional poets in the exhibit. The Saugerties Public Library is located at 91 Washington Avenue in Saugerties, NY.
