Artist Spotlight: Istar Schwager

"Remembering Katrina" is artist Istar Schwager's response to Hurricane Katrina. It is included in the current exhibition B&W: A Group Exhibition of Black & White Art on display at Emerge Gallery through August 28, 2017. Istar Schwager discusses the inspiration behind "Remembering Katrina"

Istar Schwager's work is in many private collections. Her collage "Leaves are Falling" was featured on the cover of the October, 2012 issue of the American Psychologist. She is an exhibiting (active) member of the Woodstock Artists Association and the National Association of Women Artists, an over 120 year-old organization whose members have included Mary Cassatt, Louise Nevelson and Alice Neel.
